Despite mainly selling cars in North America and the Middle East, the brand has always been inspired by its roots, Japanese culture and the fundamental role that the natural world plays in it. &nbsp; To better address changes in the industry, as well as a renewed interest in the domestic car market, INFINITI needed a fresh perspetive on their brand. Inspired by the new focus on “Power &amp; Serenity”, Bruce Mau Design looked to the horizon to rethink INFINITI as a modern Japanese luxury experience. Story Continues ︎︎︎ The revamped logo emphasizes the "infinite road" and horizon line, re-aligning it with the proportions of the original 1989 mark. By adding a distinct cut on the horizon line, the redesigned mark more clearly conveys its intended meaning of a road extending towards the horizon. Over the course of the last decade, WeWork has dominated the coworking industry, expanding from its roots in New York City to hundreds of locations worldwide. However, following the departure of its controversial founder, WeWork faced both an identity crisis and the challenges of a pandemic-altered office landscape. Seeking to shed the past and redefine their brand, WeWork turned to Franklyn. Together, we reimagined their strategy and visual identity, emphasizing the power of individual decision-making and showcasing WeWork as a caring platform for its members. With a layered illustration system, a redesigned wordmark, and a custom typeface, we crafted a sophisticated and warm brand that honors WeWork’s history while propelling them forward as industry leaders. Launching a self-funded venture capital firm amidst a contracted capital market, the family knew that it would need a distinctive brand to compete for the attention of top tech founders. Inspired by a Buddhist parable about continuous learning, the name FiftyThreeStations was chosen to convey humility and an awareness that success in business is a journey, not an endpoint. We developed a progressive brand identity to match, built around a dynamic logo mark representing the path followed by their portfolio companies from startup to success. In this civil domain, innovative design ideas, both physical and virtual, are often incubated in a grey zone between legality and illegality.Upon brief, we were confronted with these interesting paradoxes: does this public space still offer an inviting canvas for communication, and is this space still primarily physical? Posters have become wallpaper in the urban landscape while people walk by, staring at their phones. to create the branding for its DesignThinkers conference in 2021. The identity was heavily informed by a number of global events that unfurled during its conception. The world was going through the first waves of a deadly pandemic and lockdown, forcing people to figure out new ways of working and communicating. At the same time, the need to address issues around diversity and inclusion became more apparent than ever. It was a pivotal time with reverberations in all parts of society, including the design industry. The work needed to recognize these events and the need for change. It needed to start a conversation. Rebranding the conference for one year to DesignReThinkers expresses that ambition and is amplified by a messaging-driven system based on this intervention.Story Continues ︎︎︎ A simple graphic element visualizes the idea of change. A sticker adds prefixes such as RE, CO and UP to carefully curated messages. The result is a shift in perspective – sometimes subtle, sometimes drastic. The bold, type driven identity has a DIY-aesthetic and conveys a sense of urgency. Fittingly for the theme of the conference, the expression for the identity had to be rethought for an all-digital edition after all. Story Continues ︎︎︎ BMD created a flexible identity that celebrates this notion with a playful and engaging dynamic logo. The two “L”s in the shortform (LPL) do double duty as a set of legs, carrying the “P”, drawn as a speech bubble to emphasize dialogue and community engagement. This landmark once housed the most technically advanced movie theatre of its time. In the near future, it’s set to become a desitation that inspires all forms of creativity in LA. While film will still play a central role on the revitalized site, it will expand to offer much more. The new Cinerama will become a creative hotspot in the city.
